    Penn Charter (December 15, 2013)

Emily Schwartz is a student at Springside Academy. She reached out to Simon’s Fund to host a screening for her bat mitzvah project. What started as a school project quickly turned into a screening for four independent schools – Chestnut Hill Springside, Penn Charter, Germantown Academy and Germantown Friends. Of course, students from other schools…

    Garnet Valley (November 9, 2013)

The Kingsborough family was adamant about bringing a screening to their community. Denise works for Medtronic and Joe is the vice principal at the high school. With their help, we screened 189 students.

    Lawrenceville, GA (October 6, 2013)

We traveled back to Lawrenceville for another heart screening. Working with Cardiovascular Group and Jeremy Nelson’s family, we screened 198 students. This community has been hit hard by sudden cardiac arrest, losing three young men in the span of about one year.

    Cherry Hill (September 7, 2013)

A group of Cherry Hill high school students brought this screening to their school. Approximately 300 students attended the screening. A special thanks to the Bauer, Shapiro, Silpe and Stern families for their leadership.

Jack Kramer celebrated his bar mitzvah on March 30. The doctors from Lurie Childrens and Advocate volunteered their time.  There were four students referred for specific…

    Lawrenceville, GA (April 6, 2013)

This screening was for Jeremy and Adam. These boys attended Buford schools and lived on the same street.  Within one year, they both died from sudden cardiac arrest . . . playing basketball. The night before our screening, Louisville came from behind to beat Wichita State and Michigan powered through to beat Syracuse. As the…

COMMUNITY Heart Screening (November 4, 2012)

Usually, our heart screening focus on the student body of one school. However, the Decker family had something different in mind. They wanted to provide a screening for the entire Elkins Park Jewish community. Perelman Jewish Day School and Kehillah of Old York Road helped with the recruitment. On November 4, we screened 181 students….

    Protect this Heart Challenge

On October 27, 232 students from five different schools came together for a heart screening: Haveford, Agnes Irwin, Baldwin, Friends Central and Shipley. Six of them were referred for follow up. This screening represented a few firsts. There were doctors from five different hospitals checking hearts. There were medical students from two different institutions taking…

Upper Dublin Screening – An Email to Jill

The best way to capture the success and sentiment from the Upper Dublin Heart Screening is to share an email that we sent to Jill Florin. Jill’s daughter, Paige, invited us to come to Upper Dublin. This was her bat mitzvah project. Jill – Phyllis and I want to know how happy, honored, proud and…
