|Parent Heart Watch, the national voice solely dedicated to protecting youth from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and preventable Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD), has appointed Michele Snyder as Co-Executive Director. She will work alongside current Co-Executive Director Laura Friend, who has been with Parent Heart Watch (PHW) since its inception in 2005.
Snyder comes to PHW with over two decades of experience in the areas of communications, media relations, event planning and fundraising. She has owned and operated a consulting firm for non-profits since 2003, and over the years her clients have included the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Special Gifts Theatre, and the Chicago Child Care Society, among others.
Snyder became active in PHW after the death of her 17 year-old daughter Jenny in August 2008. Jenny is one of thousands of children, teens and young adults who die each year as a result of a sudden cardiac arrest. Most of these vibrant, seemingly healthy kids, suddenly and unexpectedly suffer fatal or severely debilitating consequences because of undetected heart problems. For many of them, the first symptom is sudden death.
According to PHW Board President Martha Lopez-Anderson, Snyder’s personal and professional experience will help PHW in its mission to protect youth from SCA. “Along with her passion for the cause, Michele has a strong background with non-profits. We are delighted to have her as part of our team,” said Lopez-Anderson.
