The Nick of Time is a leading nonprofit organization that is checking heart and saving lives.
February is National Heart Month, and we often hear the statistics about heart disease being the #1 killer in America. But no one expects it to strike teenaged athletes.
Cardiologist Dr. Jack Salerno from Seattle Children’s explains the importance of screening for heart conditions during school sports physicals. Darla Verrenti, who founded the Nick of Time Foundation, shares the story of losing her son, Nick, to sudden cardiac death at just 16 years old. The program educates the community about sudden cardiac arrest and encourages youth heart screenings.
