Kindergartner Drops Dead

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) –

The parents of a 5-year old Bossier City school girl said Tuesday they were shocked by the sudden death of their daughter. Kendra Jones died after school Monday after leaving Bossier Elementary with her brothers and sisters.

An account has been set up to help cover the funeral costs for Kendra Jones. Contributions can be deposited at an Capital One Bank in her name.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday at the True Holiness Tabernacle of Prayer in Bossier City. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Koran.

Her home is about half a mile down Traffic Street. Her mother, Shanitha Jones, was there as the little girl came home.

“She came home and said ‘Momma, I don’t feel good,’ and in the process of saying that, she collapsed,” said her mother.

Her mother, who is training to be a nurse, performed CPR on the girl until they arrived at the hospital where she died.

Kendra’s kindergarten teacher said the girl complained of a headache, but when checked by the nurse was not found to be ill. Her teacher, Sharon Kennard, said Kendra sat out recess, but wasn’t running a fever.
