RIVERSIDE – A Rubidoux High School athlete who collapsed Jan. 6 after soccer practice died of sudden cardiac arrest, the Riverside County Coroner’s office said Wednesday.

Rubidoux girls soccer player Lucero Garcia, #11, from a match against San Jacinto on Dec. 17, 2009. Garcia died Wednesday, Jan. 6, after collapsing on the field during practice. She was 16, and a sophomore starter on the Rubidoux varsity team.
Lucero Garcia, 16, was taken to Riverside Community Hospital after collapsing and was later pronounced dead.
